I recently saw a great painted figure on the online modelling forum Planet Figure (www.planetfigure.com) from the very talented artist Juan Manuel Jurado from Madrid.

The subject was figure 5 in the series, the Gordon Highlander. I think Juan Manuel has done a fantastic job, not only on the figure but with the groundwork as well.

I was so impressed, I asked Juan to work on a commission piece for me, and I’m delighted with the results of this figure – figure TW54001, Captain, Royal Fusiliers, Mons 1914:

Once again the figure is sublime, but the groundwork great as well. The mix of paints for the uniform is from the Vallejo range of acrylics and consists of:

Base: Russian Uniform + English Uniform + US Dark Green (little)
Lights: As base plus sunny skintone
Shadows: As base plus black and a small amount of violet

This figure will be in my cabinet collection and available to view at the modelling shows I attend, starting with Euro Militaire in Folkestone in September 2013.
